Quick-Start Guide & Tips

We're coming to the final weeks of the Beat Down Blood Pressure Video Challenge. It's not too late to enter — start shooting your video today! 

Just under 2 minutes of video will put you in the running for these great prizes:

Quick-Start Guide

  1. Get inspired: check out these stories about the power of health IT to transform care.
  2. Get organized: write out a script of what you'll say/show in the video.
  3. Have fun with it: round up friends, family, and/or members of your organization to participate or give you feedback. Bonus: encourage others to submit a video too!
  4. Film it: hit record on your camera, smartphone, or computer.

Qualification Tips

  1. Set the right tone: look at the judging criteria, then plan the content of your video accordingly.
  2. Don't ignore the fine print! Read the official rules to make sure that your submission won't get disqualified based on a technicality, no matter how small it may seem. (e.g. Do you really own the rights to that licensed song?) A handy Submission Checklist is below. 
  3. Don't wait until the last minute to upload your video. Keep in mind that the time it takes to upload/process a video on YouTube or Vimeo varies greatly depending on the format of your original video, file size, upload traffic, Internet connection speed, and could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours or more.

Submission Checklist

  1. Is your video under 2 minutes in length?
  2. Do you have a transcript of all the words that are spoken/sung in your video?
  3. Does your video focus on one activity that prevents high blood pressure or monitors blood pressure?
  4. Does your video show one technology that is used as part of or in support of the activity to prevent or monitor high blood pressure?
  5. Does your video direct viewers to visit www.HealthIT.gov for more information?
  6. Did you obtain actual signatures for the Video Consent Form from each individual appearing in your video? (Note: Only the official form provided by the competition will be accepted.)
  7. Have you reviewed the Official Rules and the Enter a Video page to make sure your submission includes all the required items?
